LION HOUSE RECORDS PRESENTS:

KATCHAFIRE

ALBUM LAUNCH TOUR – JUNE JULY 2011

NEW ALBUM – ‘ON THE ROAD AGAIN’, TO BE RELEASED IN JUNE.

KATCHAFIRE announce Australian tour dates for June / July 2011, in celebration of their latest studio record  ‘ON THE ROAD AGAIN’. The hot new record on its way to Australian shores, set for release June 2011 through Lion House Records.

Having gone gold and fastly approaching platinum in their homelands of Aoteoroa / New Zealand, this album has been making some serious waves. This is Katchafire at its finest, super catchy, soulful roots reggae music, done just right.

With the past 3 Katchafire records predominantly being written by lead singer Logan Bell & keys/sax/vocalist Jamie Ferguson, ON THE ROAD AGAIN marks an exciting new time for the band. It’s the first record that the whole band has contributed as writers which has brought out some soulful new flavours.

“On the Road Again has a far greater sense of collaboration on it. In the past, individuals have brought songs or ideas to the table and then the band flesh it out. On this album we let our guard down and let the strongest ideas be the ones that survived. We lived and breathed this album, working all through the night with our engineer and co-producer Nic Mander. It was a classic Katchafire experience, basically a family affair.” States lead singer Logan Bell.

In the past 3 years Katchafire has been gracing the global stage; Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Europe, UK, USA, Japan, major festivals & clubs have bounced to their infectious groove.  Katchafire will be touring Australia in June/ July celebrating the launch of their new album, bringing a swag of new tunes and fresh renditions of their timeless classics.

Katchafire will be donating a percentage of profits to help rebuild Christchurch through the Christchurch earthquake appeal. They’ll be joined by many special guests including the sublime Maisey Rika from New Zealand for select dates.

They have been selling out tours of Australia over the last few years, be sure to get in quick as tickets will be selling fast….Katchafire is on the road again see the Calendar for june to july tour dates.

Carnival

Come join us at the Port Douglas Carnival in Australia’s first ever Caribbean float! After having experienced Trinidad and Tobago’s carnival first hand, and many other islands in the Caribbean, we are driven to bring this passion to Australia! Caribbean rhythms, colourful costumes and fun energetic dancing out in the streets...

Port Douglas, in tropical north Queensland, is a gorgeous region where rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef. One natural wonder and two world heritage listed national parks. A wonderful place for a getaway even better one for a Carnival!

The Port Douglas carnival street parade that we will be partying with is on the evening of Friday the 20th May along Macrossan St. Be prepared to have some fun!

To make life easier for you, Road Vibes has organised packages that include accommodation, transfers, costumes, a poolside BBQ and the carnival float. Road Vibes is organising these packages and the carnival float for the purpose of bringing the Caribbean community and lovers of the Caribbean to one place in order to celebrate and expose Australia to the fabulous energy and party atmosphere of Carnival - the Caribbean way.

Remember that this is an event solely for the community, friends and family to spread the passion – we are not a profit making event – we have gone to the effort of sourcing the best prices, costumes etc. so that you can simply come and enjoy what Port Douglas and the Caribbean has to offer.

Calibre

Two of the countries foremost electronic music promoters team up with Sydney’s home of Drum N Bass to present the debut Australian tour of one of the genre’s most elusive talents, Calibre together with MC DRS.

Dominick Martin aka Calibre has been responsible for some of the most beautiful tracks in drum & bass to date and continues to drop jaws worldwide with his sublime and sultry productions. From his first full length LP on Creative Source to his latest album "Even If" on his own label Signature, Calibre’s sound has progressed taking in elements of jazz, funk, dub and techno and the result is deep soul. Having played all over the world from Belfast to Berlin, Calibre certainly knows how to captivate a crowd.

With a reputation stretching back over 15 years, DRS is a truly versatile MC, host and lyricist.  Cutting his teeth and touring worldwide with the legendary Good Looking label, his soulful style on the mic and honest lyrics are unmatched.  In recent years, he’s been an integral part of the Soul:r camp, recording tracks with Mist:ical, Lynx & Kemo and Calibre as well appearing as resident MC for Soul:ution and A Bunch of Cuts nights.  DRS is also part of hip-hop crew Broke’n’English (Fat City).

Calibre has released music on a diverse range of labels including CIA, 31 Records, Commercial Suicide, Liquid V, Bassbin, Ganja, Exit, Critical, Integral, Quarantine, Deep Medi and Digital Soundboy. Calibre is far from a prolific DJ and prefers not to sacrifice valuable studio time in favour of extensive gigs abroad. However, He’s a highly capable selector behind the decks, and the rarity of his appearances seems to make them all the more special. Calibre’s known for dropping his own exclusive productions in the mix and frequently turns heads with a selection more rugged than some would expect.

Drum n Bass fans will not want to miss this. Electronic music fans with even a passing interest in DnB won’t want to pass the opportunity to see one of the deepest and most intelligent sounds in Drum n Bass on a proper sound system this April.
