Island Vibe Festival returns for its 6th year, retaining its reputation as the best reggae, soul and dub event in Australia. The first line-up announcement sees USA hip hop baritone Chali 2na (ex-Jurassic 5/Ozomatli) returning to headline Island Vibe after making a massive splash at the festival in 2009. 2na will be joined by local favourites Blue King Brown, plus OpiuoDubmarine,Grace Barbe (Seychelles), Bobby AluImpossible OddsSelecta Ras GeorgeDJ Dakini and the Bertha Control reunion show. The announcement is just the top of the iceberg however, with many more artists and performers to be announced in the next few months.

With a strong eco and cultural focus, Island Vibe is held at the magnificent beachside location of Point Lookout, Stradbroke Island – or Minjerribah as it is known to the Quandamooka people indigenous to the region.

Island Vibe spans 3 glorious spring days at the end of the whale migration season and plays host to over 50 bands, DJs, dance and circus acts from around Australia, the Pacific and beyond. This year promises to bring back a fantastic line up and some very special international guests.

Chali 2na is returning to Australia following on from his massive 2009 appearance, and has been confirmed to play 2011 Island Vibe. The legendary US hip hop artist’s deep baritone voice and rapid flow was the unrivalled highlight of the festival two years ago, and it’s an absolute pleasure to have him returning for this year’s event.

The former Jurassic 5 and Ozomatli rapper broke out as a solo artist in 2004 with the release of The Fish Market mixtape, which was followed by Fish Outta Water in 2009 and the Fish Market Part 2 in 2010. His solo work has seen him collaborate with Talib Kweli, Beenie Man, and Stephen and Damien Marley in what has seen 2na experiment with elements of dub and dancehall.
